I used to think the same as Swaledale and couldn't understand why almost none of the target archers I know wanted to try field despite so many offers to give it a go. When I managed to drag some along to the course they brought their worst arrows (scared of loss & breakage) and none of them ever came back. I was disappointed in them initially but realise it is just different strokes for different folks. I hate being indoors so field archery naturally appeals to me. I wish I had the mental discipline to be able to shoot 20m all night.
