| As has been sais before in this thread, there is no 'better' - different disciplines in archery are just that - 'different'. What is important is that we are all archers, and we should recognise that in that description there is far more to unite us than contained in the divisions between our various disciplines.
I haven't tried field - not that I wouldn't like to, but the only field shoot held near me is the annual animal round on Box Hill. I realise that I'm probably a bit strange here, but I would never shoot at a live animal and find it difficult to square that with 'pretending' to shoot animals (ie, shoot at pictorial representations or 3D models).
Field, for those who don't participate, is confusing - there are too many organisations doing different sorts of shoot (or even the same sort of shoot with different rules?) and that seems to put some people off. I have long thought that archery as a whole would benefit immensely from having ONE national body to speak for us all...
One thing that is missing from competitive archery is an archery equivalent of the triathlon - shoot a target round, then straight into the woods, and when you've done that, a clout round - or maybe flight...
If you won a tournament like that, you could really call yourself a champion archer!
