I have found somewhat in the face of conventional thought, that a quite tight nock fit enhances good arrow flight, on the back of finding optimum brace height, where bow string deflection off the ears of the nock is eliminated or greatly reduced, now picture those nocks ears spread further apart by a thicker center serving this will have the effect of improving the ear of the nock clearance, I believe a lot of the development and popularity behind the Easton Pin nock system was the fact the aforementioned nock "ears" are a lot shorter than those of the "G" nock or the Beiter type.
