LMP has a lot to answer for!

Hi, I'm Maz (as I tend to be known), from Manchester.

Got into archery when I did a summer school thing about 10 years ago. Vowed to take it up. Chatted to the instructors, found out where the clubs are in the area, and then promptly got swallowed by A-levels at school. Only had a chance to shoot a bow once in those 10 years: at a fairground on holiday they had some target practice things: darts, little air-pistols, and archery. I think I was given 10 arrows and needed to get 3 in the blue (the bows were weeny and naff, and the arrows were about as straight as a corkscrew, but it was pretty easy if you'd shot a few arrows). I'll never forget lil' sister's face when the guy running the stall gestured around at all the prizes and said, "whichever one you want, but he's not having another go!"

...time passes (university, job, another job, buying a house, working all the hours possible)...

A few months ago, I decided to get back to that sport I never really had a chance with. Beginner's courses all booked up, except in Preston (wrong side of Manchester for me, but it was that or wait till summer). Did the course, bought some kit, joined a club a bit closer to home and even closer to work (New Century Bowmen), stumbled across LMP's advert on eBay, and here I am.

*ta-da*

So blame some Spanish fairground stall owner for my enthusiasm to do archery, and LMP for me finding AIUK.

PS. I have - happy to share!
