Bit of a sweeping generalisation that. There are many gent recurve archers who shoot over that weight and do very well. It would be more accurate to say that any archer considering shooting above the low 40s - or even a little lower in some cases - should consider whether they can handle the weight and whether they're going to put enough practice in to be able to work their way up to doing so.
