Confused - Bow Valuation help!

Hi everyone,

I hope i'm not breaking any rules by using this thread to ask a question!

My uncle recently passed away and my Dad has asked me to sell a few of this things on Ebay. I'm selling his Archery bow and target. The bow has had quite a bit of interest, but as someone who doesnt know anything about archery i'd just like to know if someone could give me a rough estimation of both the bow set and the targets values? I just dont want to be ripped off because i dont know anything about what i'm selling!

If you could take a look at the links below and tell me what you think they're worth i'd be really grateful, thank you very much,

Helen xx

The Bow (i'm aware we may have put the bow together wrong!!)

Complete Recurve Archery Bow set in Wooden Box + Acc - eBay Bows Bow Accessories, Archery, Sporting Goods (end time 07-Oct-07 16:03:20 BST)

The Target

Archery Target (straw) and Stand - Excellent Condition - eBay Targets, Archery, Sporting Goods (end time 07-Oct-07 15:35:48 BST)

Interesting that you ask for a valuation after putting it on ebay

No probs, Ebay adverts for archery equipment are allowed. I'll move it to the proper section.

Good luck with the sale!

with luck it'll be bought by someone who knows what they are doing and is collecting oldish archery kit. Its hard to say what its worth - probably what someone is willing to pay for it. The bow alone is probably worth at least £50 and the box - its hard to say - it looks well made and attractive.

The stabs and such are aluminium and therefore not current technology, similar arrows can still be bought.

The quiver looks lovely is it leather or vinyl? - makes a difference as to what its worth.

The target stand and boss - you can find current prices on quicks website as they are the current suppliers of egertec targets.

In my opinion (fwiw) the bow is worth whatever the top bid is at the end of the auction as long as it is over your reserve. That is what auctions are about. To withdraw the item because it isnt making enough, or because someone makes you an offer is imorale, if not against the rules of ebay. If someone bids £10, thats not ripping yuo off, thats playing by the rules. If the item is really worth more, someone will bid higher just to get the "bargain."
In my experience, 90% of the value goes on in the last 30 seconds of an auction anyway as people try to out snipe each other to get that last moment bargain.

I have just seen this post so I looked at the ebay item.

Blimy, some people will get carried away with bidding!

I would have said £75 tops for the bow + stuff, and the target went for almost new price seing as it was a 3ft, not 4ft target.

Well done!

BTW: PM me with your uncles name if you want. I used to shoot @ Sutton Coldfield archers way back in 1986, so I might have known him. That bow sure does look familiar.

All that kit is from the era when I started in 1980.
