An American Aircraft Carrier, named for Admiral Nimitz. Probably out of service/mothballed now, but at one time was the largest of its type in the world.

A small contingent from Friskney Bowmen will be attending, myself, archery_mum and recurve_paul. (so far). Wendy and Paul are going for the archery and my plan is to retire early so I'm first in line for the food

in the past with these events there has not been an issue with food supply, in fact often we have had to carry some home

Stu, tell Chris I'm working hard on bringing Mick (the REALLY old codger) over as well. I've told Leigh that I will ask Chris to give her some advice on her style problems. Lets face it, the man who taught Ben has got a lot to pass on.

I wish I could get Chris, Mick and Ben on the shooting line, that would really be a clash of the Titans . The only reason Chris never got a string of European and world golds was Mick. If I recall, in Wales, EFAC 1981, they were only something like 5 points apart after a whole week of Field and Hunter rounds!!!!!! The Mick and Chris partnership went through the competition scene like a treble dose of syrup of figs, NFAS, IFAA, EFAA and GNAS. when they turned up, it was a fight for Bronze for the rest of the field.

Dennis Ingham once told me he had had complaints about them turning up to the indoor shoots and winning everytime, it "wasn't fair", and could he ask them not to come every month. Dennis laughed his socks off at the request. Mind you, the year they missed the Friskney indoors, to concentrate on GNAS tournaments, was good for me, I won every one of the shoots from November to march, shooting a bow I got from Chris of course !!!!

Either way though, I'm still not drinking the coffee if Chris makes it

Phil, perhaps Wendy and I could persuade Gladys to come across, at 81 she could still show us youngsters a few things. We see Gladys every couple of weeks as she still shows great interest in the club that Dennis founded, she loves to hear how the Juniors are getting on (I think that means anyone under 50). Paul A is also coming to the MooCo, perhaps he can persuade his dad to come across as well, although Malcolm hasn't been doing too much shooting recently because of a back problem.

Watch_man, a little respect please, Saint Gladys, if you don't mind. I was one of those young archers Dennis took under his wing, so hushed tones in reverence when you speak those names. I have slept in Glad & Dens house when we got back late from shoots, because Gladys worried about me travelling home in the dark, along those winding roads and deep ditches.

Dennis told me one night over supper how the archery started for them. It's one of the most poignant stories you will ever hear.

I'm not shooting at Moo Co, only spectating, but if I can get Mick to join us, with Glad & Malc, we could show you what real heckling is. Paul would still be the little whipper snapper to us though.
