I've actually managed to get myself lined up to create some scoring system over the summer break, I'm going to start it off as a very specific piece of software (it'll handle a bray 1 and then create a knockout table) then move it to be more general and possibly prep for a wider release, most likely as donationware (its not cheap being a student you know!)
Yeah this thing was basically just the same. It was first made to score a FITA 18m for a specific record status event, and then I realized it wouldnt be too difficult to make it completely open ended so any round could be done.

The complicated parts were getting the computer to account for ties according t "x"'s. But this system was fairly easy to make.

The difficult program to make (took almost a year) was a system for handicaps... it was brilliant once it worked, because it would calculate an entire clubs handicaps in a couple of minutes, and actively update them with each set of scores added. no additional imput was required, just submit scores for members, and they would get their handicaps all calculated in a running manner.

But... I lost it...

Oh well. GNAS updated all the handicaps anyway - so it would have only needed re - jigging... something I'm not willing to do, knowing that people most likely wont use such a thing.

I was under the impression that GNAS has hired a statistician to re-jig the handicaps.

I heard from a few people about it, but I dunno if anything came of it.

Oh.

I swear I even read about it in AUK. I thought they were even advertising for someone with the skill to do it.

I may try and find it again if they havnt been changed.

I can't get it to run.
I get a runtime error 5 "Invalid procedure call or argument" in the line :Application.CommandBars("Clipboard").Visible = False in Private Sub Workbook_Open()
and then again in the same procedure in line: .ShowWindowsInTaskbar = False

I am running Excel 97 on Windows XP Pro sp2
