Robin Hood Events

As some people have expressed an interest in having a day out at Robin Hood Events........

(I'm now a member of the Robin Hood Events Team!!!)

....and Dave has given the nod for it to be an AIUK event, I thought I would start a new thread to get a proper idea of who is interested in coming along.

I'll start the list with the details from Joe's original thread and if you fancy coming along then add your name below. Once we have enough interest we can sort out some dates and get it all organised !

Ffish (depending on whether his kids will let him go without them !)

It's not a case of whether the kid will let me go without him (that's a given - NO!) If he discovers that I've been to an event that's as much fun as it appears to be, then I'll be living in the shed for the rest of the year!

I wont be able to go for another 2 years.....

I`m afraid you`ll have to consider me a maybe
1) same problem as Ffish my daughter is 11 and lives in Canterbury can you imagine the hell i`ll get if i go without her
2) currently seeking employment got the short sticky end of a cost cutting exercise a few weeks back

so even if issue 1 is resolved issue 2 is the killer

I'm interested. Don't have a longbow, though. Does it matter?

Will the cost run about the same as the Co's and So's? Any idea of dates?

You don't need a longbow Clicki as if necessary they can provide all the kit you need...

All of the kit you need will be provided, this includes Olympic Recurve bow, Arrows, both sharps and blunts, a quiver, bracer and tab. The only thing we recommend is some stout footwear

You can even use your own bow....

If you have your own kit you are welcome to use it, however due to restrictions from insurance we do not allow crossbows or compound bows. Sights are also not allowed, and are not needed as all the distances are unmarked. All bows are shot bare bow, the emphasis being on the archers' skill rather than his kit. Kindly note wood arrows only.

The price is £40 per person per day and includes....

Full days play on the Game Zones accompanied by our fully qualified Master Archers
Hire of our Olympic Recurve Bow
Unlimited arrows, both sharps and blunts
Bracer, Tab, Quiver
A short tutorial at the practise butts by fully qualified instructors
Bacon roll for breakfast, Bar-B-Q lunch and free tea & coffee all day

As for dates I will wait to see what interest there is before sorting anything out.

Wow, £40 is a lot for one day. Granted, there are lots of extras involved, but it may be out of my reach for just one day. I'd have to add my travel costs on top of that, too.

Any way Joe could negotiate a special deal for AIUKers?

For now, put me down as a maybe.

*sigh* sounds like a perfect day out....

£40 for a full days entertainment, including food and equipment? It's a bargain! I bet it'll be nearly double that in two years time (when I'll be able to go!)

As mentioned in the other thread,

I will speak to Steve tomorrow when I am down there.

the price does go down as you get groups of 10 (organiser goes free, so can get price down to £36 per person) that is without any negotiation, but I do believe it to be very good value for money taking into account the meals, drinks, and kit hire you cannot get much room for cost reduction in there, but appreciate the cost is high. If you put it into context of a "normal shoot/comp" £6-£8 for entry, £1.50 bacon Sarnie, 60p x unlimited for cups of tea coffee, half chicken, potatoes, salad lunch - £5, afternoon cake - £1 then kit hire -£??? you are getting up to that price.

Click, I am sure we can sort lifts out for the trip down to Canterbury (to help with costs etc)

I cannot reccomend the place enough, i have been 3 times already and doing 4th tomorrow.

let's see how the interest goes and we will move on from there, but even if it ends up 5 people the option to go down is still there.

anymore questions give me a yell
