June: Long Metric (G)

I am not sure if I will be able to shoot this round this month at the club But I will be shooting a FITA Comp, Would anyone have any objection to me using the 90/70 section of the FITA for my score if I have to.

It sounds perfectly reasonable for someone to use the first 6 doz of a FITA as their June long metric .

I believe you can claim records for a long metric based on the first part of a fita so you have my vote.

Just sorted out this very issue at my club!
Most clubs and counties allow you to do just this: but GNAS do not i.e. no national records. So the official way is different to what happens in practice.

I am pretty sure that GNAS DO allow National Records for Long Metric shot during a FITA, the current Compound U/L record is held by Chris White, shot at the Norwich double FITA star in 2003.

I was thinking when I first registered for the VGP that I might have to shoot this one as part of a FITA, however by some fluke all the rounds for the VGP coincide with my club's monthly handicap shoots, so there are usually plenty of people practicing for the appropriate round.

ummm... you are right but there was definitely a bit in the small print in archery uk about a junior that was refused a record from part of a metric a few quarters ago. Possibly depends on stuff, and maybe OK when part of a FITA but not a metric (ie GNAS round).

I don't think the Short Metric part of a FITA can be claimed as a national record, this is certainly the case in my club and for county records.

Most clubs I have found do allow it - as does at least two of the three counties I've been in. However, you have to do a full 12 doz to claim any of the distances, anyhow we digress.... sorry everyone.

I know it's not exactly in response to this thread but whilst we're on the topic of the Long Metric Rounds for this month's VGP, can someone advise me:

When entering the score for the VGP on a metric round, is it the ten ring only that counts as a gold, or does the nine ring count as well?

Obviously this will not effect the actual score, but will effect the recorded number of golds. My understanding is that only the tens count....
