2008 VGP Schedule

Any Ideas Yet about next years schedule, are we going to carry this years schedule?

I ask because I would like to start setting the Club Rounds for next year and I would like as many as possible to line up with the AIUK ones

No idea..... but I'm hoping they are modelled on the 1st year's rounds..... schedule 1 = gents rounds
schedule 2 = ladies rounds
with the remaining schedules being the equivalent shorter distances.

I would hope the Quantity of ends are kept to a minimum (No Fita's), so it is possible to shoot more than one a month, this year one or two of my rounds were ruined by the poor weather, It would not have changed the overall result but still would have been nice to shoot to full potential.

Currently open to suggestions on next year's VGP

It'd be nice to make it rounds that would get you your scores for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and BM depending on which division you were in.

Having shot in my first VGP in 2007 I entered Div 3 because I had not shot over 60yds before. As the year went by I found that I wanted to shoot the longer distances, so the VGP rounds were less productive for me as the year progressed.

Perhaps the divisions could be set by Current classification with the first few rounds being set by the standard required to maintain that classification and the remainder being set by what you need to move up a notch to the next one.

For me at least this would provide mopre motivation and a "stretch" target.

I believe the original VGP was in line with classification / distance.

The thing I feel that needs to be identified is whether the rounds are pitched for competitive or social archers. This may sound an odd statement, but as a competitive archer I would predominantly be shooting FITA's or Herefords! I would not shoot a 60M FITA and therefor wouldn't bother with the VGP.

If division 1 is set at gents rounds..... gents can aim for GMB
division 2...........ladies rounds - ladies can gain GMB / gents 1st class

maybe the lower divisions should contain shorter rounds to allow for clubs unable to shoot longer rounds but not necessarily the equivalent round from divisions 1 & 2??

I will be shooting the VGB Schedule for fun and a Bit of a personal challenge. I would rather have shorter rounds I can shoot more than once a month to see how well I can do on that particular round, Personally I would rather see a short metric than a Full Fita, there is still enough of a challenge to separate archers, I would definitely like to see a Fita 70M.

As far as classifications Go I will be trying to keep hold of my MB next year for this I need to shoot Record Status Yorks and Fita's, the VGP is not going to help me personally.

Sorry, may be asking the obvious here, but how does this work then? I would be quite keen to take part but it depends on when, where and so on...
