It has been difficult - but then fitas wouldn't have made any diffference. Its fitting it in thats the problem. No go last month and a watchful eye on the weather for this evening or this months out too!

Time constraints are my main problem. We only shoot for a couple of hours twice a week and with beginners on one of those nights its difficult to get a full round in. Competitions tend to be FITAs or 720s.

How about rather than shooting a round, maybe just shooting a single distance e.g. 3 dozen at 70m? That way you could either shoot it at the club or take the distance from a FITA/720. Perhaps you could take a total of 3 scores per month at the required distance instead of one? Either shot all at once or over 3 seperate days.

That sounds like it could be a possibility, Matt. Anyone any thoughts on this?

Sounds like a good idea to me, Dave. It would let our foreign friends play as well. Could be a full FITA for the lighter, more tournament full months June and July?

Which is great for all those (including our overseas chums) that are in a position to dictate metric distances on club days/nights - not so for those that aren't....

tel, sounds like you need to sort your club out.

Actually its something we've found shooting with a public club as well. Metric/FITA distances are HATED, we have a LOT of hassle to put one up and when we do we tend to find we have to take the majority of the rest of the field down at the end.
This is because other than gibbon and I there are only 2 other archers in the club willing to shoot FITA's (I won't embarress them... they both lurk on here :P)

But surely it shouldn't matter what other wish to shoot, all you have to do is put another target up - or have I missed something which makes this difficult, lack of bosses perhaps?

We've got the bosses, and the space. But as students we don't exactly count as people in the eyes of most of the senior members!
