Space/time...If the majority wish to shoot an imperial distance then it wouldn't be 'playing the game' to take up a shooting position with a boss to yourself

Kellog from what you and tel say on his answer, it makes me wonder what some of the clubs are like. Thank god Chorley isn't like that.

Put it this way - annual subs have just been paid (x2)...if there were a sensible alternative I'd have taken it.

I have got to second this....at least as far as Malvern is concerned.

We don't have many students (would welcome more), but at least half the club is juniors. Clearly there is extra work, and some of us are down there for doubles sessions, supervising juniors and then shooting with seniors. However in all cases we strive to help all members shoot what they want (or need) to practice. As a result when we go to tournaments, juniors often make up more than half our team, and in recent months when we win team trophies it is usually on the back of mostly juniors.

Long live the uniors and students. They will hopefully still be shooting long after I have had to resort to shooting compound....

Sounds good to me too. I've managed to get rounds in, but often in very poor conditions simply because that has been the only Sunday in the month that I can get up early & shoot all morning. (The VGP York was shot in <3 hours)

If we think this over enough it should be possible to set schedules much like a game of Yahtzee.

shooting shorter rounds as suggested would definatley increase the possibility to actually shoot the round. I missed the metric 1 as i simply didn't have the time to do the 12doz in one day.

The biggest problem is you can't suit everybody no matter how you decide to do it. As clubs are so varied this dictates what people are able to do, finding something that suits the majority is hard. It might be worthwhile contacting those who entered but did not shoot for an exact opinion (not Dave though - he's got enough on!!). I can shoot anything as I have outdoor access 24/7 so the schedule isn't a problem for me, but then I have entered a score every month.

Ideas for a workable solution need to be suggested from those who have missed out!!

I would've participated had it not been for my shoulder. My club, with permission, allows us to shoot a different round to what is scheduled on target days, so that would've been a possibility for me. Club nights are a bit more difficult as you only get about two hours max if you're coming from work, although there are usually targets set out at most distances. There is a strong trad group at my club, so imperial rounds dominate.

I think I would have got most of the rounds in, only I shot the Metric one on the worng size face . Dur!!

I've quite liked having the challenge of trying the longer rounds, but like Tracey I can use the range whenever I like. Shorter rounds would be easier to fit into club days I guess.
