That's a shame. Pentref are primarily a field club and although we have an indoor range the most we can offer there is 18m/20yds.

Ooh wait though... the madcap in me is hatching a Cunning Plan (TM). Some questions:
  1. Are people expected to take it seriously or is it a bit of fun?
  2. How 'official' does this shoot have to be?
  3. Can it take the form of a scored practice session, with archers keeping their own scores and promising to be honest?
  4. Is there a requirement for the shoot to take place on level ground, or would a slightly sloping measured out field be OK?
I'd need to run my thoughts past the committee before I say any more here, but if answers to those questions are favourable we might be able to arrange something that can accommodate half a dozen or so archers.

No promises of any description - what I've got in mind might be completely impractical (or just plain "no") for various reasons.

Meanwhile, there are quite a few archery clubs across south Wales, most of whom have far easier access to facilities for target shoots than I do.
Is there no one here who could organise something if some of the rest of us offer to help?

It's mostly a bit of fun, but there will be medals to be competed for where there's enough competition.

Only official in as far as it would have to meet the requirement of GNAS insurance and/or the Club's own shooting insurance

The shoot would have to follow standard GNAS scoring proceedures as per the rules of shooting (or be pretty close - I'm not going to argue the point if there's a freezing blizzard blowing down my neck while someone points out I'm wearing the wrong shade of pen to mark scores...).

Sloping ground would be no problem - better if it had lots of snow on it .

One for the Leeds lot and going to Leeds,

Is it possible to catch a lift with anyone? I'd be willing to pay petrol donation/beer tokens whatever.

I'm in the Hyde Park area.

Need to see if anyone is willing to before I buy myself a place. Though I'll try and find alternative transport if I can.

Oh aye. I can think of few things better than organising a shoot whereat I'd be doing the admin, making the tea/coffee, carrying out the bosses, measuring out the distances, blowing the whistle, clearing everything away at the end - and trying to shoot as well. Sounds delightful.

What on earth am I letting myself in for?

Let's see, it's about an 8 hour drive from south Wales to Glasgow if the roads are clear. Er... Tell you what, here's a counter-proposal: how about you lot fly south for winter, and we shoot 14 doz @ 15m indoors instead of 7 doz @ 30m outdoors? We'd be covering the same distance... :strolls off whistling:

Leicester Frostbite

I shot last year and would like to shoot this year but the mighty ( well not at the minute) blue army are playing at home in the afternoon.

what time does it start and what do you think the estimated finish time would be ?
