Ironman Frostbite - Cumbria Results

Cumbria Frostbite Report and Results

Six archers took part in Ironman Frostbite at the Cumbria venue. The archers from Riverside Archery Club arrived first and were wondeing if the Cumbrian archers would show given the weather. The usual beautiul view of the fells being obscured by fast moving clouds. Weather was just as expected, cold, windy and very wet. Frost would have been nice, but recent rain meant the ground was muddy.

The club house was in operation again, so we ad somewhere dry to prepare for the challange ahead. Bacon and Sausage butties and coffee were the first consideration, set the field up and put in full rain gear.

We started well (just cold), then had a little rain, things seemed to warm up and then with one dozen arrows to go the freezing rain just poured down (note for next year waterproof score sheets please). Cestria got is eye in quickly (clearly used to these conditions) but everybody else took a few ends to get their eye in. After the last arrow, we made a dash for dryness, coffee and soup. Certificates presented and cow hot water bottle presented to Shewolf. As usual once the kt was all put away the sun tried to come out.
A day only for the brave or foolish. Next year Cumbrian archers will be happy to visit our friends at Riverside. Happy New Year to everybody and hope you all had a great shoot.

Final Scores Hits/Golds/Scores

Cestria 83/6/638 SG R
Monkfish 77/2/488 SG R
Southpaw 77/6/468 SG R
Vanya Goud 76/2/457 SL R
SVL 71/2/405 SL R
Shewolf 21/0/73 SL Trad

On behalf of Monkfish, Shewolf and myself may I thank SVL and her team for putting on a great day today.

It was a shame the weather was so unkind, but it didn't spoil the day one bit.
Mind you, it has taken us longer to wash of the mud and lay the kit out to dry than it did to shoot the event, how I miss the outdoors.

All the best for 2008
