London Ironman

We had brilliant sunshine for our shoot. Just a shame that the field faces due south and it was shining straight into our faces!

There were seven entered for the shoot and we actually got six; poor Cliff apparently had raging toothache, and placed finding a dentist above enjoyment of the scintillating company in his immediate priorities! Hope you're feeling better Cliff, and we'll see you next time. However, we still had seven, as we were unofficially joined by Jill Moore, London Archers secretary. After four dozen, cake was consumed and tea, coffee and bovril was drunk (but not the chicken and vegetable soup!) thus upholding the AIUK tradition of gratuitous consumption. Throughout the shoot we had an everchanging audience of passers-by in Kensington Gardens, just 20 metres away over the 1 metre-high open fence.

The only downside is that nobody brought a camera!

Thanks again Derik for organising the shoot.
Shame about the position of the sun compared to the bosses. It was 4 dozen before I could even distinguish the gold at full draw. In fact I was only able to pick out the black as blue, red and gold all merged into one (and I hadn't been drinking!)

Actually Thunk I did bring a camera - I just didn't use it much!

However, just to give a feel for the day I have uploaded three photo that can be viewed here.

Thank you Thunk for organizing the shoot and to London Archers for their hospitality. It was an amazing place to shoot - I have never shot anywhere so visible to passers-by. I noticed one lady who seemed to feel safer viewing from behind a tree (our shooting wasn't that bad really!) and I wonder what answer a little girl received to her question: “Daddy, how do they make the arrows stick to the target?”
