How do you view posts?

It's interesting when people remark on the post above or below theirs. It got me wondering how members have their thread display options set. I have mine set to newest first, so that the most recent post is at the top and I don't have to scroll through. I know many others have oldest post first.

I'm curious to know if there is a preference and why. If you're not sure, there is an explanation of these different options here.

I prefer to read all my thread replys in order, especially if Im not watching a thread for a few days I can go back to it and make sense of it as I totally hate reading backwards.

Linear Mode (Oldest First) because that's how my brain works. I get confuzzled if its back to front

Oldest first - seems in order that way - then view from 'first unread'

I'm so glad no-one uses threaded, cos I'm really bad at just using the last "quick reply" button when I should be using the first!

Otherwise to use the quick reply box to reply to the OP (if oldest first linear, which is default) you'd have to read all the posts to the bottom of the screen, scroll up to the top to hit "quick reply" which scrolls you back down to the bottom to the quick reply box.

Dave can you make the quick reply box always active so you don't have to hit a button, and if you haven't hit a button it defaults to replying to the same post id that the "post reply" button does?

Oldest first... But when the subject starts to get a lot of replies and you want to go to where you finished, it is a pity you couldn't some how lock it to return to that point. By the time you've been round other subjects on that session you've lost it that's better

The little arrow to the left of the thread title will take you straight to the first unread post, as will the 'view first unread' button when you find yourself at the start of the thread...
