FITA 18 - 3 spot face

How does everyone shoot this - I found it best to shoot them in sequence

3 - 2 - 1

1 2 3 myself, but then again judging by my score that is not any recomendation.

Are you using the triangle or straight 3 spot?

It was a straight 3 spot. I just couldn't get my bottom spot so I switched to it 1st and then I couldn't hit the top spot!!! lol I still ended up on 484 so it may just all be an illusion!!

I shoot it 2-1-3 as I was losing consistency on the top face (1st shot and all that) so shooting at 2 first has allieviated this.

althought it seems only a small movement between each face it can make a big difference. i've been told you have to djust your aiming slightly for each face - and that which ever face you choose to shoot last aim a ltittle higher as you arm tends to tire and will drop a little.

We did some quick calculations and the angular difference in aiming between the three spots is minimal (1 degree or less) not an easy thing to blame variations on. The psychological difference is probably far greater.

The best advice I've seen is to choose your shot order depending on the lighting, so that you're always shooting at an unshadowed spot.

I was speaking to Lez at Aardvark today and he asked me why I was shooting on a 3 spot face as only compounds normally shoot at them!!!!

Handicaps/classifications have lower thresholds on a 3 spot. The GWAS indoor in Feb divides full face for recurve, triple for compound.....who knows?

On a vertical face I ALWAYS shoot 1-2-3 from top down. Never ever ever change.
On a IFAA Indoor I shoot
Top left
Top Right
Middle
Bottom Left
Bottom right

and on a Triangle I shoot
Bottom left
Top
Bottom right

My best advise is to not mess with it, pick a system and stick to it, otherwise you open up for errors, like aiming at the wrong face.
