Somebody's got to ask; what the FOC is it. Although I suppose we will have to wait for a few more votes before I get an answer to that otherwise there would be no point to the third option on the poll....

I put up a very simple guide to FOC for Marcus on another AIUK thread see

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/joetapley/foc2.htm

As to it's importance: See the following quote from George Techtmikov. People are prepared to pay high prices for tungsten points to get around 1% higher FOC for the same mass arrow.

"The X10 point you saw is a prototype, and is 97% metallic tungsten, not tungsten carbide. It is made by a U.S. defense contractor for Easton under exclusive contract and the design intent is to provide greater FOC with the same point mass. The material is more than 2.2X more dense than normal point materials. A side benefit is that it is also more resistant to damage in the target bosses typically found in Europe."

The FOC value for an arrow indicates how far forward of the centre of the shaft the centre of gravity is located, expressed as a percentage.

More details on Joe's website.

No, heaviest point is better for fighting wind drift, where far more points are to be lost.

Yes, in that I know heavier points would be better.
No, in that the FOC is high enough that I don't think it costs me points on a stillish day.

No, just sick of all the people saying that they want to go to the Olympics. "Oh, I'm going to try for London 2012..." Who gives a monkeys? There's more to this sport than the Olympics, and unless you're already most of the way there you're not suddenly going to improve enough to beat out the existing contenders so a 55 year old who has just never shot outdoors is a very large outside chance...

I voted "no", as I don't think about it much (certainly don't waste time calculating it... Oh okay, maybe now and again as an academic exercise :icon_chee ). I'll just stick in the heaviest point I think my setup can cope with and leave it at that...

Sorry I mentioned it! If there are people out there who believe they have a chance then fair play to them - don't know any myself....
