Dress Code Review - YES or NO!!

Having followed the thread(s) on a review of dress code going round and round more than the arguments at club commitee meetings, and with similar chances of any kind of closure, I think an overall picture of AIUK feeling may be useful, and a picture of bow-class divide interesting.
The number of options available will not allow for all classes to have all choices - so for the purposes of this poll if you feel total abolition of a dress code is the way forward please vote 'for'a review.

Cheers

Tel

I'll fire off the discussion. I'm on the fence for this, but have voted for a review. I think club colours are the way forward - maintaining a dress code, but allowing a sense of individualism. It's easy for my current club (Leeds Uni), as the uni colours are green and brown. Take out the brown (which is 'orrid) anyway, And your left with the GNAS dress code.

Having SAID that - you need to be quite careful with picking club colours. PAAS have a nice shade of light blue, with white trim (IIRC), Bradford Uni is red on black. Sadly, Sheffield Uni haven't quite got it with Yellow on Blue...

People moan occasionally about being able to get good quality trousers of the right colour. I got my white's from Gap - £30 for a nice pair of slacks that work outside the shooting line :-).

I have voted for a Review...I think as both a recreational activity and as a Sport archery should be accessable to anyone who wants to take it up and remain an individual .I think the issue a lot of people have is... is it G for green Or G for Geeky Robin Hood Types. And White isnt really practical in the dead of winter, on club days, in the middle of a Muddy Football pitch. What about Blue...What about red...its 2006...not 1066

As I've said before, it's the clubs making us wear green and white at local shoots, not GNAS, and we have the option of registaring club colours, what more do we need?
A review isn't needed, it's a change in attitude of tournament organisers.

I think you'll find it depends on the status of the shoot as to whether it's optional or not.

Greens were available, but not bottle green certainly. Robin Hood is far less likely to have existed than his green tunic

You can get muddy looking greens from lots of different plant sources... The only way they had to get a good, clear, strong green (AFAIK) was to dye blue over yellow. And guess what? Good blue dyes were rare and expensive, so a good green, like a good blue, would have been the preserve of the well heeled...
