Without my glasses, I would be useless: couldn't drive, read, operate a computer, operate a till, even sweep roads without tripping over every little thing. I need my glasses to be a "useful" member of society. But the cost of them is getting on for £500, which, in one bash is a considerable dent in the income. Do I get any help? Not a bean. Luckily for me, I put glasses at the top of my priorities. So I am investing in my own treatment for what would otherwise be a severe disability. I realise it's economics, and if everyone who needed glasses had them provided the country would be crippled (add in dentists fees, prescription charges etc). "Free at the point of delivery" - I think knot.

I need my glasses changed every 6 months, hopefully my eyes will settle when I'm around 20, but they might not

Talking

I had been told 5 years ago i needed glasses, mild strength; really for when i was tired.
I had my eyes retested 9 months ago and the eye tester man spotted the after effects of a childhood eye problem that was at the root of my headaches. wasted eye muscles on my left eye. My eye sight is still spot on ( well for a thirty something any way!) He said i just needed t rest a bit more and i probabaly would'nt need glasses for years t come. Hooray for Vision Express!

I had mine tested last week as Mrs B.E. said I needed them testing!! My long vision is excellent but my short vision was a bit weak. I asked if he sold hearing aids as apparently I need one of them too!!!!

Although I was told I don't need glasses the optician was not complimentary.

He said reading etc would become difficult as the light got worse and he was right - I'm now holding things further away to see the small print.

Luckily the gold is a blur through the blur of the sight pin so the aiming is becoming more instinctive and scores are improving!

Can't tick any of the boxes 'cause I don't know how long ago I was tested. I don't wear glasses (yet), but am very conscious of my eyesight as I've always considered it my better performing 'sense' - everything else has given up the ghost!

I get my eyes tested every year. My prescription barely changes but I always get the new one cause I suffer from double vision and a slight tint on the lense and better vision saves a year of migrains (well worth £200 odd quid a year).

Had my eyes tested at the beginning of this year
1st time in well over 20years and my eyes are apparently fine
(suprised me i thought that i would need glasses)
Gold is a blur at 100/80/60/ but can see it clear at 50 and below on a 122
at 20yrds/ 18m on a 60 and 40 it`s just a blur
and i have trouble seeing my own arrows
(last indoor season my average portsmouth score was 565-576)

I had mine last done in April. Luckily, my soon to be brother-in-law is an optometrist and could do it for me. I do shoot with glasses on now and saw a distinct rise in my handicap (around 6-7 points) since I started wearing them.

Thumbs up

Had to wear glasses when I was a kid, but have "the best pair of eyes I've seen for a long time" (direct quote from optician !!! I assume he was referring to their condition ???) now, and haven't had to wear them for about 20 years. Although I am fastidious about getting them tested every year after having firework blow up near my face when I was 17 which burnt my left eye quite badly and took a long time to heal.
