i had to vote no, as i myself dont add up my scores every dozen, because my personal scoring is on escorepad. When i am at tournaments, if i am scoring, i add up after each dozen, so the other archers can keep a check on their scores if they so wish.

You have to sum as you go, and learn to mentally block out both negative and positive thoughts - just in the same way there is little point getting frustrated when a single arrow does not hit the gold, or getting over-excited if your first 5 arrows are in the gold.

It has happened and there is nothing you can do about it.

Remember you statistically are likely going to be scorer 1 in 4 tournaments anyway (assuming 4 archers a target), so you will have to get used to seeing your total as you go along.

I never add up until the end and never score in practise. I just concentrate on one arrow at a time and trying to shoot groups. If you shoot enough good groups good scores follow.

I've only just started scoring my practice and add up every dozen.

Gives me an idea as to the final score based on averages.

I add mine up, but what I don't do is compare the score that day to any scores shot before. I used to do that till I realized I was getting uptight over the fact I was 2 points down on a previous PB and I'd only shoot the first 18 arrows of a twelve dozen round

Unhappy

leaving summing up until the end is often the refuge of those whose mental arithmetic is poor and they get out a calculator to take away the bind. In a tournament, this delays getting the score sheets to the administration people and results in everyone sitting around far longer than necessary waiting for the awards presentation.

I had to vote no as eScorePad does all my maths, that's why I wrote it. I don’t actually look at totals as I shoot unless I am checking the scorer’s maths. If I am the scorer then I do the maths the hard way and add up at the end of each dozen.

Was adding up on Thursday evening as I went along, and after 5.5 dozen I felt fairly confident I could get a bowman score in the last end at 80 yds......first 5 arrows were 99777, so I thought I had it OK. Last shot was horrible and in the 5. Added up, and I had made it by 9.

Just as well I was not relying on it (got my 3rd bowmanscore the weeek before), because I checked later and misadded by 10 in the first dozen at 80 yds. In fact I missed it by exactly 1.

Must remember to check my maths next time!

I try to add it all up as I go along, but get extremely annoyed by people who add up their scores OUT LOUD next to me when I'm adding, as it's extremely distracting, and usually leads to me making mistakes...

So, a plea to all those 'sum-as-you-go-along' people; add it up IN YOUR HEAD, or UNDER YOUR BREATH and not out loud! Your target partners will appreciate it!
