It's been discussed so maybe we need to know...

I have messed about with this a lot over the years. Started off parallel; then turned left foot at 45 degrees; then both feet at 45 degrees; went back to parallel; now my left foot is at about 22.5 degrees.None of these felt really comfortable. The last is the stance I take if I stand upright, close my eyes, rock on my front foot, plant my back foot where it feels like going, rock onto my back foot, then plant my front foot where it feels like going. This may be because of long standing (ha ha) problems with my left shoulder and ankle.

I use an open stance, but it took some work to get it. It seemed so unnatural at first, possibly because it's a strangely child-like stance. It's totally natural now, though. In fact, a square stance now feels unnatural.
