Macbow, it may look as if there is very little interest in field archery when you look at the poll, but I know it doesn’t reflect what is really happening. In addition to the relatively small number of GNAS members that shoot field, membership to both EFAA and NFAS are both growing, NFAS membership is now close to 6,000.
The NFAS 3D champs have a limit of 400 places, for the last few years it’s been full and they have had to turn people away. Even the Scottish champs now reach 300 strong (I’ve already booked my place).

bowman104, I shot at the open shoot at Avalon’s ground at Sandy, not too far from Hertfordshire, last Sunday, where you there.

Hi Field Archer, last Sunday i was at the Hertfordshire county indoor shoot, lost out on 2nd by 1 gold (same score) and was 1 point behind the winer - I think it is time to invest in some fat arrows!!
The only field shoots that I know about (and go to) are panther bowmen (will try to get to the open 3d shoot + the Fita one ,plus the 3d shoot at Perris archery shop on the 26-02-2006, see you there ?
Is there a web site with the open field shoots on ?

Bowman104, our field shoot will be a similar affair to the Perris shoot. I'd be there on the 26th but have to visit the inlaws at Derby. Let me know how you get on.

I will be at Whitemark on the 26th.

I don't think any of the 3 archery governing bodies are happy to show open shoots in their calendars. It causes insurance problems, open organisers have to arrange their own.

the WFAA hosts Welsh and Open field but in this case it relates to IFAA affiliated so not what you are refering to I guess - I expect to be at Ramscombe on Sunday for the EFAA Hunter round with a couple of other Welsh archers. Not shot there before so should be interesting.

Good point Flandyman, I was referring to “open shoots” as shoots open to all members of any society.

As far as I am concerned "shooting " and "disipline" are an oxymoron, especially with longbow. I think its a state of mind.
