pins here

on the face of it, i would've thought that a spike of alluminium would have more luck deflecting an incoming arrow than a piece of plastic

since switching to navs with pins i have blown up about half a dozen nocks, including one that blew apart and it took a gouge out of the pin, but the shaft was fine. new pin was cheaper than a new arrow!

in saying that though beiter pins are expensive. i dont kill nearly enough to worry about the costs yet really, kill about 1 nock a fortnight but for the better shooters replacing them constantly must get very annoying indeed.

I've smashed 10 nocks in the last outdoor season, bent the pins, scored the pins badly, but, touch wood, have yet to knacker the arrow!

So pin nocks for me in my ACE's!

Kae.

You could use pins in the Plats if you wanted to - the shank of a pin is the same diameter as that of a g-nock. You just stick the pin shank into the bushing with some hot-melt glue, then push a pin nock on. I'm not sure there's any advantage to using pins on aluminiums, though.

The Beiter option seems to be edging it at the moment.....

Do the In/out nock still provide a better level of impact resistance compared to a normal insert nock???

If, I under stand rightly, the order based on protection would be as follows:
1st - Pin nocks
2nd - Beiter in/out
3rd - inserts (Beiter/Easton etc)

Thanks

Just got normal beiters on my ACCs for indoors - they have uni-bushes so they're a bit tougher at the back than shafts without them.

Beiter in/outs on my ACES. So far so good.

I use Beiter In/outs on my navs, and have never damaged an arrow by rear ending. When I get my X10s (should be soon!) Im thinking of getting Pinouts for them so I can get the best of both worlds.

I reckon they've got to be worth a go - sadly only available for x10, protour and Nano though.

Always used g-nocks, and although i've hit them many many many times, i've never lost a shaft while using them - and they're very cheap!

a friend of mine uses beiter nocks with tripples - it's hilarious, as he can't fit the bloody things in the shafts - even after putting them in the freezer and trying various other remedies! he also goes through them at a rate of knots, and is strongly considering going back to good old g-nocks!!

One of the reasons beiter stuff is more expensive is that they go to extraordinary lengths to make the stuff the best it can be including the choice of materials used. In the case of nocks as an example they are tested designed not to expand or contract over a wide temperature range (much wider than you would expect on a shooting field anywhere in the world) so I am not surprised that putting them in the freezer does not work.
