| OB.... shooting in Yorkshire, I was advised early on when I started competing that if I wanted a true picture of how I was shooting and to get the best results that I would need to travel further South. This *should* give me better weather and therefor a chance at better scores, also the opportunity to shoot with more archers with a wider scope of abiltiy! ![]()

| Money and spare time seem to be two constants in archery, if you don't have both then it's really going to be a struggle, regardless of abilty imo. In my case (probably like most working archers with a family) to get more money I have to work smarter/longer and lose 'family time', and when I practice I can't make as much money and lose 'family time' edit: but I'll admit that when I'm shooting, after a couple of ends I don't give anything else a second thought ![]() | |||||||||||

| It would certainly make me think twice about attending a competition a long way off where I had to finance my own transport. On the other hand it's not that big an increase when set against entry fees, hotels and (in my case sometimes) flights. Its more the ones which are there-and-back-again in one day that I'd be put off doing.

| Fuel costs are one aspect, the other is the cost of shoot fees and camping overnight. Any more than £5 a night and I expect electric hook up, showers and a massage after shooting!! I think tournament organisers should try and keep costs down to a minimum, put more raffle prizes in and then we would buy more raffle tickets!! This would boost funds. | |||||||||||||||||

| For our club there are only a few major competitions a year (BUSA, SUS etc.) for which non participation is a big no no and everyone wants to go. These are basically definites and almost no matter what the cost we will get there. That said half the cost of the trip is accomodation which with so many people descending on the area at once is at best scarce. | |||||||||||||

| IMO compared to other sports, tournament entry fees seem quite reasonable. Just remember who gets the biggest slice of yours and the organisers hard earned money for a weekends shooting. Yes that's right the government in VAT (tea, coffee, target faces, bosses, field hire etc) and Fuel Tax ![]() | |||||||||||||||
