Am I correct in saying that for compound you need a higher score in each class? and on top of that the 'X' point circle is also smaller? i know the 10 point is the smaller one for Metric is the 9 point also smaller on imperial ?????

Do you have to shoot specific rounds to reach specific levels? I have had a look at Robbo's score cards and it looks like the levels are linked to distance and not just score i.e. If I only shoot to 60M I can only be 2nd Class? Anyone give me a link for a newb (dummies guide) to target scores and levels etc. I get most of it or at least I think I do and just want to make sure.

For compound - scoring zones (the 10 ring, 9 ring, etc) are the same size as for a recurve. The scores are higher, that is the only difference.

If you only shoot 60m, you can only get 2nd class, you need to shoot 70m for first class and 90m for everything higher.

I finally got my first class last year, after getting stuck at 2nd Class for over a year! I guess I'm just not a "natural", and will have to work at it harder!!

So For Imperial Shoot Everything in the Yellow is a 9? For Metric Inside the Heavy inner ring is a 10 not the smaller light Ring For 10 on compound?

Yea Just Found it in The GNAS Rules, i will be having words with someone at our club who told me you needed to hit the inner to score the max for compound , I just have to remember who it was and print out a copy of the rules. I'm actually quite pleased, it means i'm scoring higher than I thought I was, definite 2nd class, just need to push up the distances a bit and I may even make 1st this year, well it is good to have stretched targets .

EDIT - Looks like the confusion may have come from indoor rules (section 404) where with a compound you have to hit the inner 10 to score 10 the Inner Gold only scores 9? I am going to have to print the rules and read them thoroughly .

Been shooting three years, made Master Bowman for the last two years and with a bit of luck and good weather hoping for GMB this year. (Well I can live in hope!)

How good am I? In all honesty not that good at all these days, but I still enjoy shooting and I'm working towards enjoying it and shooting reasonably well again
