I feel you have a good point about tradition holding back archery. In japan students usually practice 2 times a week. After each end they run to the target run back and shoot, there is always a top coach around of national standard. The students dont have any old duffers sending out mixed coaching advice either. Most average archers who start at uni are expected to be at 1100 min after 3 years but most dedicated archers are about 1200 plus, lets not forget the guy who came second at the WC moriya was actually a student, and here student archers study unlike in korea.

We coach "not to run to the target, to watch for arrows that have fallen short so they don't damage you and you don't damage them" I guess in Japan they don't miss!

| So far only Grant has answered my question of what he would like to wear instead of white or green. As for flip flops, Larry Godfrey shot in something similar at the indoor Nats and no one batted an eyelid. (It would take a brave judge to tick off the Olympic bronze medalist). It would seem that most people dont mind club colours (me included) but if the choice of trouser/skirt colour was included in club colours wouldn't we be faced with exactly the same situation of 'do you know how difficult it is to find navy blue trousers in my size' or 'I'm not wearing that colour it makes my bum look big'. As for youngsters not wanting to be dictated to as to what to wear then all I can say is both of my kids couldn't wait to get their first team footie kit, they also dragged us around the shops to buy Karate suits and Cricket whites when they started those sports. I do agree that children should be given a bit more leeway with their clothing ( I'm sure a lot of judges do this anyway).

Slowhand, I guess most people would go for something more practical and easier to buy. Perhaps on the basis that team colours were extended down south, so to speak, if you chose not to wear them what about a colour like blue or black?

Black goes with anything, the question is, what shade ...........doh ?!

That's kind of the point....whatever colour gets picked will still lead us back round in a circle if GNAS decide only a particular shade of that colour is allowed. Black will quickley lighten if washed enough, as will most dark colours. One of the advantages of letting clubs choose the colour of their trousers is that it takes the pressure off judges who feel they have to enforce a dress regulation that they know is unpopular (in most cases). It would also help to make club colours look smarter if that's such a crucial issue.

Just say jeans are optional, everybody in the devoloped world owns a pair these days.

Nice to see team colours At regional/national/international level we ought to have specific colours. Each club has a colour-registered with GNAS and its nice to see team colours. BUT the dress code may deter would be members and at inter club level should not be compulsory.
