I made a mistake with this thread/poll, what I should have concentrated on was the hardware aspects; practice & coaching are (of course) a given.

What I am trying to establish is where my next investment should be and/or what is the biggest limiting factor of my current setup?

For me it's practice that makes the most difference, also as mentioned above I found the addition of a longrod helped considerably too.

As with everyone else, practice is by far the most important way to improve. Just to cause a little controversy , i think that it is important to start using the clicker as soon as you can. It builds control (as long as it is set correctly) and promotes good technique in the long run.

OK I am going to assume that as you have just got a Ragim bow and jazz arrows that you are going to stick with this bow for a while. The items you should buy next are stabs ( long rod, adjustable 'V' bar and twins) and sight(click adjustable up down and left right. Make sure that the sight you buy has a large amount of left right fine adjustment there is nothing more annoying than runing out of fine adjustment when sighting in and having to adjust the coarse and then readjust the fine to get things right.) These will probably stay with you for a long time as they are switched to your next bow and maybe even the one after that as well. So buy the best you can afford, do not worry about any one commenting on that fact that the stabs and sight you buy might be worth more than the bow you put them on. Only consider second hand if know what you are about, or you are buying quality equipment from some one you know and trust.

assuming I have a full setup of cheapo equipment they is matched to me (size poundage) inc clicker etc then; Arrows made the biggest difference- they made a huge huge difference switching from xx75 t ACC. I think my york went up 300 points immediately. I agree that equipment at my level doesnt make much difference in all but arrow choice, with perhaps limbs as long as I have tuned everything well.

For me it was deffinately arrows. The change from XX75 to ACE was amazing i was shooting further distances and my scores were improving by loads. If it is about getting new equipment it depends what you want to do i would suggest a stabiliser or arrows for improving.

Initially arrows made the difference. Technique and plenty of practice have made me a luckier archer.

Yeah just to add if it is an item i say arrows but the amount of practice has really helped me

Having a few coaches around to give me advice when practising was also really helpful.

It must be luck for me cos I find that after working with a good coach and practicing long and hard the luckier I get.

Longrod and clicker. Make sure that the clicker is set right and make sure YOU know exactly how you are going to use it. Misuse of a clicker can do more harm than no clicker.
