Warm-up Wam-down

Do you warm-up before shooting, & warm-down after shooting?
(With me, it varies)

RE: Warm-up Wam-down

I always stretch before shooting, but I don't think it's necessary to "warm down". When cycling I always warm down: it wasn't always easy after a race so we had a masseur , but I always did a couple of miles "spinning" slowly to clear lactic acid and prevent cramping and stiffness after training runs or time trials.
I think that if you're putting so much effort into drawing your bow that you risk lactic acid build up, you're way overbowed .
However, I think warming up is vital to avoid muscle or tendon damage to the shoulders. I go for nice long stretches in every direction until I feel the tendons "loosen" (20-30 seconds) and then a good bit of arm swinging to get a bit of blood pumped into the delts, lats and rhomboids.
I try to stretch at intervals during the shoot as well.

And there was me thinking you were just dancing to that tune going on in your head...

Can anyone tell me the name of them rubber band warm up devices and where they're available? I've had a look around the interweb and can't find them.

Clinibands. Physios hand them out willy-nilly for injury recovery, or Quicks sell them.

RE: Warm-up Wam-down

I always do warm-up.
As for warm-down, I do it very often and especially after a long and hard training or after competting.

I think too few archers warm-up
Do it, you will shoot better !!

RE: Warm-up Wam-down

Just had a look on the website, can't find them but I'm sure they're in the current catalogue. Are you shooting tonight? If so I'll try and remember to bring it down. Otherwise I'll see if there's a catalogue number.

RE: Warm-up Wam-down

I feel I have to warm up.

Tense, stiff shoulde, no good for straight arrow flight.

I normally go for a 10k run, swim 5k and then 40 press ups.

.... only joking, I normally tired after setting up me bow!
