What would you do ?

Setup my new Helix today and fitted a Beiter rest that I had and not got round to fitting on my previous bow only to find my Shibuya button is too wide and when I adjust it to get a decent centreshot it pushes the rest off the riser.

Now do I go and purchase a new button to resolve this or just go back to using the Hoyt super rests and my existing button I used on my other riser ?

Obviously one option is much cheaper than the other but I am curious to know what people think ?

Just open out the central hole of the Beiter rest with the correct size drill to allow the button to go through. I did this to get a Cartel button to fit without any problems.

As BBB has just said - drill a hole through your Beiter rest and carry on using your current button. (cheaper too!)

Although the sensible thing to do is adapt the rest I have voted for option 1 as that's exactly what I did do myself - get Beiter rest then get Beiter button to fit. Although I did get the Beiter button the cheap way - Xmas!

Get a drill bit to it, it's dead easy and the plastic is quite soft.

Drill bit, or spend a fortune on a Beiter button.

Buy a new button, don't be a cheapskate.

You spend all that money on a riser and then bodge the button and rest.

What utter crap.

The Beiter rest is designed to work with the Beiter button, but that does not mean that anything else is utterly inferior and inadequate. I shot indoors last year with a Striker button, and that's hardly a name synonymous with high-quality kit. It worked well enough and I only had to make the hole a bit bigger.

To put it another way - if it was a wraparound rest that had an arm that wasn't high enough, would you:
a) bend it upwards so the arrow ran down the centre of the button;
b) buy fatter arrows so they ran down the centre of the button.

You bend the damn thing, or in this case take a drill bit to it and make it a bit bigger.

Crap? You sum it up perfectly in the above statement.

Anything that has the potential to cause problems should be binned in my opinion. If you have to start drilling (and ruining) pieces of equipment rather than buying the correct one for the job then you open up, potentially, a whole world of trouble.

I certainly wouldn't use it. I'd either use the correct button for the rest or put the old rest back on. I certainly wouldn't start drilling it.

I find it hard to believe that when someone asks for opinions (remember this is a poll) and someone gives their opinion, it can be called crap!
