would hate it if every thing turned metric

going to the pub and not allowed to ask for a pint would wind me up

On my bow I use both, the bracing heights in inches and the tillers in millimeters. Why thats ease its because what ever the measurement is it comes to exactly a mark on my bracing height gage

As someone who once had the joy of working on a supermarket deli, and cutting up lots of cheese/ham etc, I can honestly say its easier to measure weights at least in imperial. Why? Because a 1/4 lb is a usually a fingers width of cheese or two average sized slices of ham. If you try to get 100g it is invariably too heavy. And of course most of the customers (even the younger ones) ask for it in imperial as thats what they (or their parents) have always done.

Then theres the fact all my mums recipe books are in imperial (not too much of a problem) and so are the weights for her old-fashioned scales (doh!).

Right! Cold does not exist, it is the absence of heat, first thing you should get you head around when you do refrigeration, you don't make something cold but remove heat (energy) from it
