| RE: Units of Measure Besides, the York (and similar) round is more of a challenge! (Pause for hoots of laughter from "modernists"). Half the round is at the longest distance, and you don't have a less than challenging shortest distance to boost your overall score with. When the question of clout was being examined, the international brigade stuck by the FITA size because, in their words, they would feel "humiliated" trying the British clout. Is there something of this about the FITA target round? And, if we are looking at something "scientific and logical" why are the distances at a Gents FITA in nice steady 20metre grades, but the Ladies' FITA in hiccoughs, so they both end at 30m? Why is 80m never shot - unless it's because the Imperial rounds miss out 90 yards? Let's face it, all the rounds have been determined because of individual archer's' preferences, there is nothing more logical about one set over the other, neither set is any more adept at sorting sheep from goats, etc. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| RE: Units of Measure Jerry Tee...Mmm That's just what I meant - International tournaments are decided with metric rounds as are most other countries championships- Good old blighty sticks two fingers up to them all and shoots imperial to decide it's championship- Then the selectors will ask for FITA scores to decide who shoots for team GB. As the Yanks say: Go figure! |

| RE: Units of Measure I agree with mick here. I also feel the york does over emphasise skill at 100y 90m compared to the more mixed fita round, not a problem but if used for selection and devolopment then#maybe... |

| RE: Units of Measure I like the idea of a cake interchange the trouble is my particular field of experties is consumption not baking which would rather spoil the interchange bit ![]() |

| RE: Units of Measure Quote:
Consumption is a necessary part of CIUK! However if you consume without baking, your membership fees will be higher </p>
