Mind you, the same can be said for target, when the grass gets long...!

I know, I know - if you dont miss, then you dont search for arrows, but the liklihood of loss is greater when you miss and your backdrop is a forest!
Yes, you do spend time looking for arrows. Sometimes you find them, sometimes you don't. That's half the fun and a part of the learning process. Not ends though, just each target (anything from 1 to 4 arrows depending on type, face, etc) and the number depends on the course.

We have a 14 target EFAA field course, which we cycle through Field, Hunter, Forrester and Big Game faces (the latter at the moment, my favourite!), and run 3 or 4 NFAS unmarked shoots a year. These tend to be anything from 14 - 20 targets of different sizes.

Field really is fun - give it a try! If you were nearer to Norfolk I'd invite you along!

I like both, but am shooting more and more field these days.
One thing I have found with field is that it was bringing forth my target panic issues that were manifesting in tournaments. So by shooting lots of field I have been able to work on fixing an issue that was very difficult to deal with. Worked very well.
I also prefer the quietness of field, less people to interupt my shooting.

After years of shooting target archery as a GNAS member, I thought I'd try field archery . I thoroughly enjoyed it, it's an escape from the "seriousness" of target archery. However, after joining NFAS and shooting 3d rounds, I'm a convert!! These days I would much rather shoot NFAS rounds than GNAS rounds(field) The field guys are there for a good time and a pleasant day out in the woods, whereas GNAS field archers(IMO) tend to be a bit more competetive! I hate indoor shooting and would rather get out on our field and shoot clout than shoot indoor comps. I try to shoot field in the "close"season and then prepare for the outdoor season early on in the new year.

Both my sons shot target and then field. They were converted the first day they tried a field competition. I got fed up sitting and watching so started shooting as well.

Tried target and although I had a good time and was able to get some tips on better form and control, I prefer field shooting.

Target for me is too full of rules and regulations which govern not only the shooting (fine), but what you must wear as well. I don't hide in the woods wearing cammo, but I prefer not to be told what to wear when i'm having fun.

I would however like to give target another go again. Just got to find a club nearby.

I've never tried field, but I'll be going to green park for that, we might be doing some of it, I believe, unless it's all archery golf, clout, and fun shoots.
