I like both equally, but usually only have an opportunity to shoot target.

Aaarghh too difficult! Each time I get to the end of a target competition I prefer target, but each time I shoot field I prefer field.

If there were many more field competitions in Scotland with more competitors I think I would prefer field. SFAA continues to self destruct, and as yet there is only my field club trying to run FITA field events.

We have 14 targets set with IFAA faces. 14 targets with FITA faces as a Stamp rounds, and 36 unmarked distance animal faces for NFAS.

I haven't really tried the unmarked distances. I do prefer roundals over animal faces.

I'll be down the field course tomorrow Carl. No footie, so an ideal opportunity to start sorting out my field set-up ready for the NCAS/YAA champs.

I've never shot field, and I'm still not convinced that I *wont* spend all my time searching for arrows in the undergrowth after each end. (is there an "end" in field archery?)
Mind you, the same can be said for target, when the grass gets long...!

I know, I know - if you dont miss, then you dont search for arrows, but the liklihood of loss is greater when you miss and your backdrop is a forest!

In FITA field the maximum distance you shoot is 60M. For IFAA it is 80 yards, but you only shoot 2 arrows at that distance.

A lot of barebow and longbow archers shoot field. They certainly miss, but they also find their arrows. Because the distances are shorter and it is generally sheltered in the woods, there is no need for Aluminium/Carbon arrows. XX75s are fine, or Redlines once you are confident you won't miss the boss.

The other thing I meant to say is that the longer targets also have pegs for juniors, so while you are improving it is quite possible to shoot a field round and not shoot further than 30 or 40M.
