Bowman rounds

Congratulations to everyone who has acheived their goals for the outdoor season be it 3rd 2nd 1st Bowman MB & GMB.

With regards to Bowman Classification which did you predominantly shoot i.e 6dozen, 8 doz, 9 doz 12 doz rounds.

Last year due to time I shot only 6 dozen rounds, but this year only 12 dozen rounds and only increased my handicap by 2 points, if however I looked back at my score say for a York took my first 4 dozen at 100yrds and first 2 dozen at 80yrds it would have been 5 points.

Is it right to look at it in these terms?

Finally, I also know of archers who set out to shoot a 6 dozen round did not make the grade so converted to another slightly longer round and acheived a Bowman score - is this allowed?

Ummmm.... Don't think there's anything in the rules that would disallow it. Does seem to me to be a wrong though.

Personally I never look at scores while I'm shooting I leave that till I've finished than total things up. Most of the time though I tend to practice and not shoot rounds and shoot rounds in competition.

That being said this year I've either shot 12 dozen or 6 dozen, only actually shot FITA and 720's.

I've put 12 dozen as I've had more bowman score's over that distance, but my initial 3 scores were 8 & 9 dozen

Ive voted for the 9 dozen as the one and only Bowman score i shot was a St George
other than that what ever i shoot i generally hit 1st class scores approaching Bowman which is generally New Westerns
(they use up 1/2 my score pad per round so 2 rounds to a page means i`m not wasting any pages )

Has to be 12 doz rounds, mainly FITAs, only 2 herefords this year, never bother shooting anything less as I only do 12 doz comps.

Don't forget you can get a Bowman score on a Long Metric. You can't get two Bowman scores off a Fita but if the whole one hasn't coughed up enough points it may be worth checking yer long Metric total.

Simple answer NO, but there is nothing stopping an archer doing it if the club records officer\ secretary does not check the validity of your score.

Some archers also do the 'shoot arrows until you get a good scoring end and then start scoring', instead of only shooting the 6 sighters allowed. To record a score it should be shot as though you were in a tournament, and I do not know of many tournaments that allow you to change the round you are shooting half way through?
