| A "GOLD" is classed as the higest scoring zone on the target. So Imprial rounds has the higest score of 9 so that is classed as a Gold and on metric rounds 10's are classed as golds. A "GOLD" is a maximum score with an individual arrow.

| I went for both for all the reasons specified; i.e. I shoot both imperial & metric

| I would've said just the 10-ring (if not the X-ring) but given that in an imperial round the 9 is counted as a gold as well, then technically both are classed as gold's...

| I haven't voted, but hope the following explanation may help! (All depends on GNAS/FITA) Golds are only applicable in GNAS, as the FITA rule book does not, to my knowledge, include any reference to Golds and the scores are determined only by number (I put a note on another thread explaining this as best I could!) The Gold in GNAS is determined as the 9, for imperial rounds. For metric rounds under GNAS we talk about the score for each colour ring, and use the words "inner Gold" for a 10, and "outer gold" for a 9. When recording a score for a metric round which includes the count for "Golds" the assumption has always been that 10's only are recorded as a gold, although you can claim your six gold end badge on an end combining both 10's and 9's in a metric round or a FITA. To my mind the accepted practice has always been that when shooting Metric Rounds under GNAS the 10 ring is the "Gold" - like a Portsmouth is indoors. To clarify Indoor Scoring, there is no x ring, only 10's. The Recurve and Compound Archers have different size 10 rings though. (does not apply to Worcester round of course). Hope this helps! |

| I thought you did score X's for a FITA 18/25 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Sorry to disappoint you, but the answer is no. the book for reference for FITA Indoor Rules in Book 3 (downloadable from FITA Website - free I think!). It describes the target face under rule 8.2.1, and then says, under 8.2.1.3 "for the compound Division only the inner ten (10) ring will score 10, the rest of the yellow scoring zone will score 9. Then, under rule 8.6.5 (scoring) it says how ties will be decided - Greatest number of 10's, followed by greatest number of 9's if ties are still unresolved (This does not apply to Matchplay ties where the score only is relevant). It then follows that you are not recording x's, which are used outdoors as the tie break (Score, followed by 10's, followed by x's) I admit its not easy necessarily to follow, and in this instance we have to take the view that at no time does book 3 (Indoor Archery) for FITA mention an x, although it does mention the inner 10 being the 10 zone for compounds. |

| I'm wondering now how many people have scored their VGP rounds incorrectly...
