Deep Hook Or Not??:confused:

Having just recieved my new(purple) tab facing from Arrowhead UK (Many thanks again a very good service )and reading the memo sent I was thinking when I shoot I wrap my fingers around the string up to the second Knuckle so and not the first I have short stubby fingers (in fact thats me through and through) so what do other archers shoot and why?

Hmm, joint of first knuckle because its what I was taught. Thought that WAS a deep hook, as opposed to fingertips??
(BTW Madmac - the ZT problem I mentioned on the other thread was on a different riser, not on my lovely Revolution!!)

IMHO

Deep hook because the fingers are relaxed which can be reproduced...as opposed to the tenseness required for a shallow hook

Slightly deeper than the first knuckle on the index and middle finger, in the crease of the knuckle on the third finger. Works well enough, though I have some brutal callouses.

I use a deep hook but have been asked to change to see if it suits my style of shooting better but can't seem to master the shallow hook at all.

(whether thats deep or not i dont know - i always thought that depth of hook referred to the angle you curled the first knuckle joint round the string rather than where on the fingers you hooked ? )

Shallow. First crease of middle finger, pad of top finger and bottom finger.

This is what I understood the deep hook to be. I didn't even realise archers would use the second knuckle.

My 1st and 3rd finger the string is in the crease of the first joint, the 2nd finger the string is on the fleshy part between the two joints, along where the dirty great callus has formed.

On the pads, all three no hard bits of skin at all. tried a deep hook with the Onaida once, Damn my finger tips suffered, won't do that again.
