Personally as a poor little student with a partner completely useless at organising things... I find the £5-£7 entries more than enough, if I enter a month at a time of shoots this often mounts to around £50 or so (for both of us). I guess my sensible head would appear if the entries were higher. This is also one of the reasons I stopped showing my dogs!!

As for the raffle - was this not also intending to amuse people while the organisers have the daunting task of sorting the scores & awards out??

I usually buy a strip of each colour tickets - it's no wonder I rarely win against MM and TJ

The grant was also used to buy a storage container and to pay for hardcore for the cricket club car park, in order for the container to be delivered.

A good result for the Club Mick, this was linked to replacement of equipment due to the flooding.

I was thinking along lines of Lottery funding and Sports grants to improve facilities.

Hi,

We - Llantwit Major Archers - (WFAA) managed to gain a local council grant for sports - we have also pushed the Sports Council for Wales to move on in recognising Archery so will be attempting to put the squeeze on them soon. There are grants out there especially if you are targeting Children in Archery ( sorry for the pun !) you can often get development funds to buy equipment to develope this side of a club. Go to the council - they have an annual budget to pay out to sports - get your share !

It may seem a bit anti social but i would gladly pay an extra few quid on my etry if i didnt have to sit through a tedious raffle and have to put up with being harassed by some poor guys wife trying to flog as many tickets as she can. ACME have shown on occasion that you can add up scores as you go along, so (rarely) dont need to sit through an ice age to wait for the prize giving that is more boring than watching grass grow (unless you win)

I actually think tournaments are very cheap, perhaps too cheap. How else can you spend all day having fun for well under a tenner? I dont think a price increase would in realiy decrease entries, just create some pre tournament muttering. In somecases taking your family to burger king rivals the price of the family entering a tournament that lasts all day, is reasonable exercise, sociable and usually ensures a sound nights sleep.
