Wow

First of all Welcome to the forum Mattcrov. Im sure i speak for all folks here. The usual here is to welcome folks with

Its good to hear bows are being used with as much fun as they were intended for.
Thats what we do it for. Its a shame we only get to here of the few that have the fun.
We dont aim to sell bows. We just want folks to find the right bow with the right performance.
We like it when we get to talk to folks about what they like about shooting, and what they wish to gain. Then match what we have to that. If we dont have it, we can hurry about to develope a product to fit.
From Traditional Longbows, field bows, target bows, to limbs and even Cross bows. Even non standard bows like the Raven Self bow. We even do Bow Blanks for those interested in the tillering side.

Thanks Matt, but I think I'll err on the side of caution as advised and stick with the lovely new bow coming my way very soon

Taken some photos of the beast! Still not good enough but will post to give an idea of the bow.
Sid could you post a pic of a Reiver/bow shelf with a plate/rest set up as you would recommend? I have tried a few things but not happy with what I have tried. Currently using Velcro but it wears down/melts on the edge of the arrow shelf, is this down to poor knocking point height or shelf not set up well enough? The arrows are coming out straight with no fishtailing and all are level in the boss when walk back tuning. Thanks for your help. (Yet another stupid question!)

Anyway Bow pics;

Yes knocking point is the clue

Sounds like your knocking point it out. Also I notice you have limb savers...
Three things lead to limb wobble... Hand position, Finger position, and nocking point.

Im not talking about your vertical hand position. Im pointing at pressure, Its about pushing though the top part of the grip though to the bottom of the grip and some where inbetween. Finding the right spot, will allow the balance of the limbs to work. This will allow the recurves to work the same amount and reduce wobble. The next thing that stops the limbs working symetrically would be pulling the string asymetrically. This will pull the top or bottom limb more, loosing the centre of the bow that your grip has. this All shows up as a knocking point issue. To test this, Get in close to a boss, get a buddy to spot you. but draw your bow with an arrow on it, and at about 5 meters from the target, getting your friend to tell you if your going to miss, shoot several arrows healing the grip with your eyes closed, then with a straight wrist, and to finnish, with a nuteral hand. the feeling your looking for, is does the bow kick forward with the top or bottom limb. In short is there excessive vibration. The one with least vibration is the grip that suits the bows tiller. Then repeat with 2 fingers above the knocking point and then 3 fingers below. This will show you how these differences affect the bow.
When you have it right it will shoot with a dead thud, and thats why we thing limb savers kill this feedback. bracehight, can also affect nocking point tune.

This is why some people get a sweet shoot from the same bow, with the same arrow, with the same draw length.

Then with all this set in your mind, you should be able to tune your nocking point. When shooting off the shelf, you might find that if your knocking point is too low, it will look like its too high by bouncing the tail of the arrow off the shelf, kicking it high. Possibly causing what you are experincing, this is a very rough estimate without knowing too much what your set up is.
It will also apear too weak by sitting a little left(right handed shooter)

This is not easy to do, but thats the theory on how to find the wholy grail.
Hope it helps you get more fun out your bow!

Sid
