| MKII Risers... Improvements to the MKII riser are all based round speed and riser stability. The MKII is not Fastflight proof, which is where some of the issues arrise. You would be better getting a new riser, to take advantage of the speed/efficiency improvements. The Speed gains also come from stiffening up the riser, to reduce parasitic loss of energy. So to denote the change in performance levels, we changed the size of the pin that locates the limbs. The XP limb technology will help increase grouping/arrow consistency, with the Hex 4 now being our starter limb, if there are some XP10/XP30 limbs that suit on a new riser you would probably get a smile from these improvements alone with out having to go over budget. We are about to release a new price list! We would modify some XP10 limbs to work on that riser, but the extra energy in the newer limbs would be best suited to our newer risers especailly now that the CX option is now standard. £270 for a standard riser, and £270 for the hex4. This means that its almost as cheap as the hex 4 with riser as it was for the hex 4 alone. The Extra advantage is that the older XP30/XP10s are now obsolete so are discounted but limited. see our web site for them... In short, the performance gain you would get comes from 2 things. The suitability of the riser to take fast flight and other modern strings, and the better design of limb, whichever limb you choose. Hope that gives your good food for thought. Send us an email, again, though our website Archery Bow Making - Border Archery Scotland for more info? Regards Sid |

| ok... We have several options at that bow weight in stock at the moment We have 3 lengths of Black Douglas Field bow 17",19" and 21" (Ultra, Swift, Original), and 2 target versions 23/25 inch. (mirage) The Ultra has different limb pocket angles,This is so that it can keep its performance, it has different setup information writen on the same limb. the naming for the swift and Original are for example 60"/62" for the total lenght depending on which riser they are put. But they would also make 58" on a Ultra. (we will leave the mirage risers for the moment) The difference the limb pocket angle makes is as a rough rule 3lbs gets added to a ultra limb if its a writen up as a Swift/Original. If the limb is a ultra limb say at 50lbs then it would make 47lbs on a swift or original... or a Swift/Original at 50lbs would be 53lbs on a ultra. if you followed that one then here are the options... Black Douglas Ultra Hex 4 60" 53lbs Black Limb Finish (3892) 58" 52lbs Black Limb Finish (4659) we also have: Hex4 64"/66" 55lbs Black (3913) 60"/62" 61lbs Black (4523) 62"/64" Bamboo Cores 60lbs Black (4149) 58"/60" 53lbs Black (1049) 58"/60" 54lbs Black (4535) Hex4-W GLX 56" Ultra 50lbs Elm Limb Finish (5200) 58"/60" 55lbs Elm Limb Finish (5207) 60"/62" 51lbs Elm Limb Finish (5658) Forgot to say.... Whats your draw length, and where abouts are you? Pick a limb and we can sort out a price... Last edited by BorderBows; 31-10-07 at 10:21 AM. Reason: missed a bit |
