| Limb breakages in Italy I quote below a list of limb breakages taken from Agorarco forum in Italy, this list is maintained by Fulvio Verdecchia (FV), italian archers report breakages to FV to keep the list up to date, it is by no means exaustive, not every breakage is reported. here is the link if anyone interested: AgorArco :: Leggi il Topic - Lista rotture flettenti As you can see the breackages are related to all of the new "high performance limbs" of all the major commercial brands, some of them broke right out of the box, others after one year of use or more, there is no evident pattern, the limbs get replaced at no cost if within warranty terms otherwise the archer has to pay for them, no special treatment ( good Sid !) I think Border limbs are immune from this problem, I am planning to acquire a new set of HEX5, I know that they will be good and reliable limb and Border will support me. ![]() Danilo. | Mmmm. Be very interesting if we could work out in terms of proportion of production. Can't see any wood-core limbs in there ![]()

| I too am amazed this thread still has legs... Buy a horse...eventually it will die. Get a nice car...if rust doesn't eventually do it in, the engine will wear out or it'll meet its end in a crash. Everything has a life and when it runs out, that's it. Whether its an animal like a horse, an inanimate machine like a car or even our own body, we can extend life (in theory) by taking good care of what we have. We can also shorten it by mistreatment. Border made you a nice pair of limbs. You put them under stress each and every time you pulled back to full draw and released. You put them under further stress by inadvertently launching them out of the riser. After seven years of service the stress became too much and they broke. #### happens. Did you really expect them to last forever? My advice, although not sought: get over it. Buy a new pair of limbs. You are very fortunate that Border have made the offer they have - most manufacturers would refer you to their latest catalogue, their nearest dealer and their retail price list.

| Hello Danilo. Welcome to AIUK ![]() Interesting figures there. In fairness, Hoyt and W&W limbs are more popular so you should expect to see more breakages reported. However, while no limb is immune, my personal preference is for hand-made limbs rather than mass-produced ones. ![]() |

| while at at a competition yesterday a someones bottom limb delaminated, loud bang, and it was not a border, it was a seb flute. the archers fine and the limb is still under warranty. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Here is my story Hello all, Here is my story. Recently I bought a Reiver from Border, most bountiful bow I have ever seen. after 3 nights out the bottom limb delaminated, I was devastated. Called Sid the following day and he sounded even moor sad then me. We made a deal and I upgraded to a Black Douglas that I received 3-4 weeks ago. Sunday I was out shooting it and what a shooter perfect point and so on. When I came home I would put the string back on so it could stretch full. Just before I had pulled it long enough to put the string on the bottom limb broke flying around the house (my wife was ###### ;-) made an mark in the wall) I called Sid the following day and did not sound like a happy camper (sorry for that but I was still in chock ps. I have apologised to Sid. But still great service he would make a new pair ASAP hopefully they soon be here. I can not say that there are places with better service, Border really stand by there product. I will post pictures of the broken limb when I find out how to do so. The limbs was in a class of their own. Bertel |

| Bertel Welcome to the forum, and sorry for the problems, We hate it when the people who choose our products suffer problems. We do our best to make the best bows we possibly can, using the best materials we can buy. We implement the best practice as much as we can, For some reasons some people have problems. We are currently making limbs with a construction like no other, and we feel with perfomance levels like no other. We are not going to stick to materials because thats the way its been done for years, we feel that archery has been suck that way for long enough. XP carbon has pushed world records and the concept is now used by other companies. We are proud of our bows and the service we give. Issues with bows happen to any manufacturer, and we do our best to pick up the peices and get the archer back on their feet. What we can say is, If your bow from us does not meet your expectation, talk to us, we will see what we can do. This in the past has included too many knots in the vaneer, to the wood has changed colour over time and even to the broken limb butt issue that started this thread. no doubt this thread will bring more broken bows out the wood work. Generalisations like "new bows are not as good, and this model is a bad one" dont really apply, For example the limb butt here is 7 years old, the reiver is a glass model that has delaminated and a black douglas thats broken its limb (not delaminated) and all have a different construction to each other. Overall we have one of the lowest breakage rates in the industry. We also sit with this reputation on a very fine line, how do we make industry changing developments? and when one breaks, the easy one to blame is the new development. We aim to maintain our reputation and make the best bows we can for you the archer. The proof of a good company in our eyes is how that company deals with a failure in and out of warrenty period. As there is not one bow making company out there making glass or carbon limbs that does not have a breakage or two. We hope you understand the point we are making. |
