My unique Black Douglas

Last year, I asked Sid, Sid and Anne whether they could make me a Black Douglas riser out of a block of heritage woods they had spare, leaning against a wall and gathering dust. They pondered, scribbled on some paper, looked it over and said "Yes". And here's the result: a totally unique riser that looks totally stunning:

I can't wait to shoot it (although I need to build up my muscles a bit first! ) Thank you Border for the most beautiful bow I have ever seen.

must say, we didnt want to let it go either...
the block of timber was a staff project, that never got anywhere.
Staff get to make their bow from start to finish themselves for the cost of materials. Its a neat way for them to see the whole process, and to make there own bow and join our club. They dont need to stick to the company convention and their bows are not for sale.

This block was going spare when John spie'd it. We had to work our socks off to get the whole thing to line up and have some symmetry.
The outcome is a lovely riser which we know, has gone to an appreciative pair of hands.

Please dont ask for another John, we all were sweating over each stage as it was a block no one wanted to have to make again

Glad you like it...
