First outing with the hex's... in the snow

Took my new hex's out first time today. It was the first day with a bit of sun, though that changed in the end. The day started with +2C and gusty sidewinds, up to 10m/s, so in the end the temperature was well below zero to start with. The day ended on the plus side though, and even the sun shined a bit after the clouds cleared.

So all in all, quite thorough cold weather test for the new limbs... They're hex4's with H-core, I got them from Sid's in the start of the indoor season and I haven't had a change to shoot them much, less than 4000 arrows or so at 18m, only few occasional on longer distances, this was the first day I got to 70m with them.

First note was that they are mightily fast, I've changed the sight after last summer so don't know how they relate to other limbs I've shot (old borders, samick agulla ultras, winacts etc.) but there's no doubt that they're faster by far than any of those. I didn't really got anything out of them indoor, but when on the outside they really started to shine, in the end shot almost four hours in the freezing weather, knee deep in the snow, warming up my fingers and the limbs in between every set. But my god it was fun.

The Bow.

The limbs are nominally 39# and I'm pulling about 45.5# out of them. Decided to leave my better set of arrows home and shot with a beaten set of easton vectors. They were really scratched together from bits, five had frayed 45mm spinwings, the rest 55m kurlys, with three different colour nocks. I have a set of same shafts which tune perfectly 2cm longer and with 20grain heavier point, so they are horribly out of tune, didn't let that bother me though:

The Range.
The Groups.

After a few warm up sets, shot a 36 arrow score from 70m: 315 (56,52,48,59,49,51). A few gusts of wind kept moving the group from side to side. Nevertheless I'm more than satisfied with the limbs, the score is above average practice score for me, and considering the conditions, rather nice I'd think

In the end, I honestly think that the hex series are the best limbs around right now.

Green with envy!! Hey Napolienne, them Hoyt Vector arrows seem to go nicely - want a set of 840s to complement your new limbs??

You mean Easton Vectors? Can't shoot all-carbons on our practice field, unfortunately...

Green with envy? You bet I am!

Doh! Yes. At my age its no good having Hoyt Vector limbs and Easton Vector arrows in the house - brain doesn't cope well anymore. (that's better!)
