Hi,

Does anyone have some spare gortex material around which i can use to make a scope cover?

Thanks to wingate_52 for the idea.

You probably don't need Gortex - the only benefit of that material is that it has very fine pores to allow a persons natrual body water vapour to escape and avoid your waterproofs becoming damp inside. The scope will not need a breathable cover, unless it is already damp or cold. Any waterproof material will be OK.

I agree with max on that one.

On a different subject, does anyone know where a goretex gillet (waistcoat) can be obtained?

Geoff, so long as you don't want it for the pockets your best place would be through golf outlets, though I'd recommend a walk around Decathlon first as they have everything under on roof. I'm sure you'd find something suitable there and as they have weird french brands tend to be cheaper

Try a school lost propert dept.

Aldi and Lidl have inexpensive jackets and trousers.

Cycling shops sell gore gillets, try www.wiggle.co.uk on line

A large clear "coke" bottle with the end cut off and slitted from top to bottom does the trick! No more rain on your scope.
