Thumbs up Taking on the Big Boys

Well, after findin out that my 30lb bow could reach 100 yds at our field, I decided I would give the men a run for their money at the Southend Open on Sunday. However it was not as easy as it seemed cos when I applied to the organiser I was told it was a mens only round ( how sexist is that).
Well I had to phone the judge for the day and he said it was ok for me to do it if I wanted to. I had only shot 6 arrows at this distance to get my sight marks, but what the heck, you never know till you try. I came out of it with a respectable 955 but boy did I ache the next day as it meant holding the bow that much higher. I was staggering around for half of Monday saying "never again", but I am ok now. I dont know why more women compounders dont do it cos it is not that much harder to do 100 than 80yds.

That's pretty impresive and well done to sticking to your guns and doing it.

We had a bit of a tradition going here in Scotland a few years back at a particular shoot a few of the ladies would shoot the Gents round on the second day and beat most of the field

Well done you not only for the good score, but also for giving a good to a very sexiest remark. I've shot Hereford's before and had no problem and seen ladies shooting a York all with no problem. just had a flick though the green bible and it calls it a York and its a Hereford/ Bristol 1 no mention of what sex you have to be to shoot it.

Wink

Tony, I think the problem was that no one of the fairer sex had ever asked to do a York at Southend so the organiser didnt know about it. Well he will know next year, hee hee.

Ronnie well done you for giving it ago. I wonder how many arrows we men got on the target the first time we had a go at 100 yards, I'll admit it my first go I would have been pleased to get 1 hit.
