Not archery related... but oh well

After moving to uni i thought that i would take up fencing again, cause i used to do it when i was younger and wanted to take it back up, so i signed up at freshers.

After not having touched a fencing sword in 7 years... i'm now on the 2nd team for the UWS Fencing after what equates to nine hours work

Well done, as OB said, if you got it.........

You will be using foil I presume, I would suspect modern health and safety watchdogs would have banned Épée by now LOL . Like archery, a sport that is far more difficult to do well than non participants could ever imagine.

What do you mean ban Épée?? I love that weapon!

yeah.. atm the 2nd team is Foil.. as i'm the only member that can fence the other styles.. and its been a long time (even before i stopped) since i've touched a sabre (unfortunatly)

Yes, Épée was my favourite weapon too, but the blade is a bit stiff and liable to cause bruises. Health and safety will then worry about litigation or anyone bursting into tears, or maybe the bruises might increase the risk of other illnesses. But maybe I'm just to cynical about health and safety watchdogs.

Oh Bu**ger, my shoelace is undone, and I have just walked up a staircase with it like that, another risk assessment and "near miss" form to fill in.
