First FITA 70m

Finally had the chance to go outside and it was a day of first. In order of general coolness:

1. First time outdoors with a compound - been itching to do this for months

2. First time shooting a FITA 70m - reasonably happy and scored 570

3. First ever first class score - very happy about this one, finally managed to break the psychological barrier that is a first class score

Here's hoping that I can keep up the latter and improve even more.

Excellent work Hippo!- The 70m is a cool little round isn't it if a little boring with no distance changes....I love it when the target gets closer!
This is just your first outdoor this season?....you're gonna have a blinder!

This is my first outdoor season with a compound. I've shot recurve for around 4 years but haven't had access to 24/7 facilities before either. 'Tis going to be fun indeed, probably head down to the field again tomorrow.

As for the FITA, I do quite like it, but I think I'll probably have to start shooting New Nationals if I want to get my BM - FITA 70m's are too short to get me the classification.

Hey HH!
Dont forget the Long Metric if you're concentrating on the FITA distances
Very well done so far!

To be honest, I just did a 70m today as I couldn't be bothered to get multiple sight marks. Tomorrow I might try setting up my rest a little more to get rid of the contact and then walk out to 100 yds which could be a problem - 70m was quite low on the sight track. I'm trying to get ready for the Cleve York in 3 weeks time and would like to add another turn to the poundage (which I could probably do now but don't want to injure myself).

What distances is a long metric?

First half of a Fita - ie 3 dozen at 90m, 3 dozen at 70m. I know some prefer it to the New National route as it balances the two distances rather than being weighted to the longer one

I'll have to look at that then. I really need to go for the longer distances though starting from tomorrow, but I expect the Long Metric will be the better route (and the distances are a couple of yards less :P) as I was putting in some reasonable ends at 70m today.

Not so sure about that. I've got exams so won't be competing after the York until the Cleve FITA star (at least, not in the Bristol area) unless something appears in june that I can get to.
