Went to the club today, to get my first set of outdoor sight marks, didnt really plan on shooting a round...however ended up shooting a national, 4 doz @60, 2 doz @50. Shot a 581 in the end. Now i can only shoot at best a 2nd class (509) for classification purposes (Senior compound) for this round which is fine, but is a 581 any good? How does it compare to you?

That would give a 33 handicap (midway between 33 and 32) which on a New National would be just below a first class score (478). Not too bad for a first attempt I wound't say. A 32 handicap equates to a first class score for the National series.

First time I went out I shot a 570 FITA 70m which is just above a first class, so pretty similar to your scores.

thanks for that, got to try harder! it was pretty windy today - different kettle of fish away from the kushy indoor portsmouth static conditions!

Don't forget the classifications for compound archers have changed for 2008 onwards. For example, second class for the National (compound senior gent) is now 549.
