First Class at last!

Hi Gang,

I've done it at last! I decided to shoot the mens Long Metric (90M/70M) at this mornings meeting, and after a shakey start finished with 434 - which means that's my 3rd First Class, and another PB - yay!! :-)

regards

Kev (Mr Happy today) ;-)

RE: First Class at last!

Well done Mr T. There seems to be something in the AI cake at the moment. I am overwhelmed with jealousy.

RE: First Class at last!

The cake may have helped, but I think it has been the clicker and a lot of practise that seems to have made the most difference! Since starting to shoot with a clicker, after shortening my arrows to suit, , and a couple of sesions practising using it, I have shot 3 firsts in the last four shoots, with all three being PBs!

Now I need to work on the back muscle technique we've been discussing in AI, to steady my aim t full draw.

regards,

Kev

RE: First Class at last!

"First Class at last"? Seems like only a short time ago you let us know about score no.2 ;-)

Great stuff MrT!

Two things you mention I have yet to try - metric rounds and clickers - maybe that's the way forward!

Congrats again,

Tel

'tis true, but I've been trying to shoot a 1st Calss score for over 18 months! I got my 3rd Class after three shoots, and my second followed quite quickly, and then I seemed to hit a brick wall - I even went backwards for a while, shooting third class scores again.

So you can see why I'm so chuffed to be shooting the higher scores now - onwards and upwards! ;-)

Likewise, with the going backwards. All seemed to be going well, then I started hitting legs at 80 yards in January. Lots of bad habits had crept in and it took about 3 months to get back to where I was before. Finally got things sorted out and comfortably shooting 100 yards now. Posted three first class scores in the last month (new western and 2 new nationals), and seriously thinking about entering my clubs rose award tournament at the end of the month.

RE: First Class at last!

I'm not much of a tournament archer, I'm not so worried about how I compare to others as to how I fare against myself and striving to shoot that perfect arrow... I have been roped in for a couple of tourneys, the latest only because we were short of a recurve archer for the team event. But that's just me, you go for it!! :-)
